25 Years Since the First Cancer Diagnosis.
Does that title say it all? Not quite. Holy Thursday, 2017 marked 25 years since Greg was first diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and chemo began. Greg finished his chemo in September of 1992. Life went on and two more children joined the Miklaszewicz family.
In November, 1998, Greg found out that after six years of remission, his cancer returned. He went through two years of chemo, trying to destroy the cancer, which didn't work. The last option was a Bone Marrow Transplant. Greg's brother, Tom, was a perfect match for him. Greg was considered CURED!
Fast forward 17 years. Greg was diagnosed with Esophageal Cancer. Greg will have radiation every day for 6-7 weeks. This means Greg or family members and friends will be driving back and forth to Wausau everyday. About 60 miles round trip. He will also have chemotherapy every four weeks (4 rounds total). He will have a drug called Cisplatin that will be infused at the hospital. He will also be given a drug called 5FU that he will receive 24/7 via a portable battery pack that will last 5 days.
Our daughter, Erica began this GoFundMe to help with travel expenses and various medical bills for Greg. We recently took it over so that we could post updates for anyone that is interested, and to prove to skeptics that this is not a scam. Sad to have to say that, but there are just too many scammers out there.
