Gregory Sparks' memorial fund

If you don't have the absolute honor of knowing Greg, he is the nicest person you'll ever met. He's a husband, father, and grandfather to the sweetest and friendliest family you'll ever meet. It's the type of family you wish to be in, but no worries! Greg and his beautiful wife Lynette always make you feel right at home. Greg lights up every room he enters and knows *exactly* how to make you smile, laugh, happy cry, or push through some difficult times.

Unfortunately, he's now having a difficult time. Last year started a cascade of health events for Greg (I've put his daughter's update below). He has seen every specialist possible, but he has been unconscious and in critical care since December 5th. His loving family met with his ICU doctors today and were told there has been no improvement, and he has multi-system organ failure.

Greg always gives a helping hand or sends positive vibes to everyone around him, and now he is in an hour of need. They're a family that would give you the shirt off their backs but would never ask for help, so I've organized this in the hopes of helping alleviate the stress of his medical bills. Your donations will go directly to Greg and his family to cover medical expenses and daily bills/expenses and are greatly appreciated.

If you are unable to donate monetarily, we ask you to please keep him in your prayers and share so this can reach all his friends that have meant so much to him along the way.

From his daughter Brianna -
"Update on dad: warning this is going to be long winded so I can make sure everybody knows everything.
Last year started a cascade of health events that has basically led to what has happened to him. He has seen every specialist that he could possibly have seen. He has non-alcoholic liver cirrhosis, but was not a candidate for liver transplant surgery. May of 2021, he was seen for a case of purpura (which is a platelet issue), and was seen by every specialist in Pittsburgh to determine what the issue was. He's also a type 2 Diabetic. Fast forward to October last year, it was determined he needed to have a triple bypass done. He had that done and was on the mend. January of this year, we all got sick with Covid. My dad was hit the worst. He started not being responsive and understanding what was happening. They diagnosed him with long covid and brain fog from the covid. He has been in this "fog" for almost an entire year. In June/July this year, he began losing his balance and becoming dizzy. He has had over 15 falls just since this past summer and 4 car accidents. In August, he was started on lactulose and an antibiotic for high ammonia levels (close to 150, normal is roughly 15-45). We were able to get his ammonia level to somewhat of a more normal value (in the 50s) but the brain fog was not lifting. He was seen by Cleveland clinic neurology and it was determined that a combination of his high ammonia levels and non-compliance of using a CPAP machine for his sleep apnea was causing his neurological issues. He did a sleep study and was scheduled to have a brand new CPAP machine delivered on the 20th of this month. Yesterday, I went to wake up my parents to go to work, and found my dad on the floor of his bedroom non-responsive and seizing. 911 was called, they took him to the hospital. It was determined that his ammonia levels despite taking the antibiotic and lactulose routinely and as prescribed was above the 200s, potentially causing the seizure like activity he was experiencing. He is currently intubated and sedated and on a ventilator. He cannot follow commands but can move his extremities. They are checking him every 8 hours to see if he will wake up and follow commands all while giving him lactulose to try to reduce this ammonia level. We are now trying to sort out what caused his ammonia level to spike to these deadly numbers because he again was routinely taking the medication and had a close to normal lab value 2 months ago. So as of today, his ammonia level is down to 150, still critically high, and cannot follow commands but they are trying to wean off of 100% oxygen and sedation. I need all of the prayers please. We have been doing everything to try to help him. I'm overwhelmed with my nursing brain versus being his daughter and nearly traumatized from finding him the way that I did. Any suggestions that make sense are totally welcomed. If you've made it this far, thanks for praying for my family and my dad. We love and miss him terribly. "
