Greg’s medical bills and expenses

Donation protected
Many of you know him, and some of you may not, but my brother Greg Hampton has hit a rough patch in life, he is struggling a bit. Greg is a 17-year United States Navy veteran. He has done a lot to help many others in our community, as well as the many other places that he has been. He has undergone 3 surgeries since 2015, 2 of them being in the last 3 years. He has been unable to secure gainful employment for over a year due to the pain and discomfort of his most recent back issue. Unfortunately, this has caused the medical bills and his everyday life expenses to pile up significantly.
Shortly after his recent stint on active duty as a recruiter, Greg began noticing some pain in his lower back that eventually began radiating down his right leg and into his toes. When he realized the pain was not alleviating on its own, he began seeing a chiropractor and attempting different massage techniques. All while attempting to establish and secure full-time employment. The discomfort began to interfere with his daily living activities, as the pain in his lower back and the pain/numbness that was radiating down his right leg began to make it difficult for him to move, walk, and enter and exit a vehicle. He sought out the guidance of a physician (He had to find a new healthcare provider after moving home). X-RAYs and an MRI were ordered, and he was referred to a neurologist. The MRI images revealed gross herniation of his L5-S1 joint space. This herniation was pressing against his sciatic nerve, causing an impingement, and the pain and numbness down his right leg. The neurologist informed him that the changes to his spine are degenerative, and there is a high probability that this would happen again.
He underwent the operation on January 13, 2023. The neurologist removed a piece of the vertebrae that was pressing on his sciatic nerve in hopes to relieve the impingement, and if all went as planned, most of the nerve damage would be relieved, as well. He has yet to be released to resume normal activity and is still suffering from pain and numbness down his right leg. The neurologist has stated that these symptoms may or may not improve.
Prior to this vertebral disc herniation and sciatic nerve impingement, Greg underwent an emergent bowel resection surgery to remove a large tumor from his intestines, in 2015. This procedure left him with some lifelong, life altering side effects that he had to learn to adapt his life to. In 2020, he underwent another surgery to repair damage that he had incurred as a result of the original surgery, in 2015.
Although there is a very minimal active salary coming in at this time, both regular monthly bills and medical bills and current medical costs continue to accumulate. Greg is a prideful man, and would not ask for help, but I know he would appreciate it. If you can spare anything to help my brother, get through this rough time, I would be truly grateful. If you are unable to donate at this time, will you please take a moment to share this message?
