Gretchen Krieger accident fund

Hello, We are creating a GoFundMe account to raise funds to help cover extensive medical bills for our niece Gretchen Krieger and her twin sons Marc and Deilian. They were in a head-on accident caused by an uninsured, unlicensed, drunk driver.

On November 29th, 2023 the three of them were driving home following the twins’ first basketball game of the season. They were driving down a two lane road when a driver going the opposite direction sped up trying to pass the vehicle in front of them. The driver swerved into their lane going at a high speed and hit them head-on, totaling both vehicles.

When their vehicle was hit, the force of the impact injured Deilian’s upper torso leaving an indentation and blisters where the seat belt held him in the car. He has a serious concussion and many contusions on his upper torso. His shoulder, back and ribs were seriously damaged, making it difficult to breathe even after a month later.

His twin brother Marc was the passenger in the front seat and experienced a serious concussion and injuries to his shoulder and back. His knees went into the dashboard which resulted in lacerations, leaving his knees swollen and numb. Marc hit his head which resulted in lacerations to his face. He received serious damage to his eye after being hit by the particles from the airbag. His doctor has indicated he has a high probability of the injury leading to early onset of glaucoma or blindness.

As the driver, the force of the impact seriously injured Gretchen. Her neck and spine are sprained, a disc in her lower back is herniated, painfully pinching a nerve, and her wrist is broken in two places. Just like her sons, she has contusions on her torso and ribs making it difficult to breathe, not to mention sneeze, cough, cry or generally live life. Her seat belt caused internal bleeding and she too, has a serious concussion.

Gretchen is a single mom raising these two great 17-year-old boys on her own. She has been disabled and in a wheelchair since 2012. Due to her disability she cannot work to raise extra money for the expenses they are now facing. Both Marc and Deilian are basketball players at David Douglas High School, and they are not able to play basketball or participate in school due to their injuries. They can’t wait to be healed so they can return to doing what they love! Gretchen is looking forward to healing so she can return to being the best mom she can for her boys.

Unfortunately, the expenses associated with their many medical appointments, the gas to get them there, and covering even general necessities is more than they can manage at this time. Her auto insurance assistance has been depleted by the initial medical bills. Her totaled car has been replaced by a used vehicle, but now she has car payments.
