I hate doing this, or even broadcasting to my friend base of this horrid disease, let alone the support I need. I am just not that kind of person.
I have been diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma; breast cancer. I have known for 2 weeks, and have already been through surgery to remove the mass and some affected lymph nodes.
While here in China, we do have the best care in Hong Kong, but it is a journey to get there, about 4 hours with trains, customs, visas, subways, busses, and walking a lot. The only drawback to the system here is that we have to pay up front for health care until the deductible and 10% copay is met, and then we have to pay for our travel and medicines.
Although medical care is more affordable, 280000 Hong Kong Dollars still adds up to close to 37000 USD for the procedures this far. Needless to say, after paying to move and not receiving our first paycheck here until the end of September, we are just getting back on our feet financially. Sloane is at UTK, not cheap, and we are pouring everything made into becoming debt free by the time Milo graduates.
I am not looking for a lot, just enough to make it through the impending chemo and radiaton. This whole ordeal is very humbling, and it is hard for me to realize some things are not in my control. After trying to find ways to do it on my own, privately, I have no other choice today but to put this out there. Thank you so much for reading this and helping out if you can. All of your support is genuinely appreciated.
