Greywolf’s Medical Bills

It’s Melanie, the feral kitty lady of Silverton Colorado. One of our longtime ferals is currently at Riverview Animal Hospital seeking treatment for megacolon! Greywolf has been a part of our community for over 13yrs. He lives over at Natalia’s Restaurant.

I thought he was having diarrhea problems early thru mid January. I brought him to the Vet’s to treat that issue Monday January 27. I started worrying later in week when he wasn’t eating or drinking much and straining to poop. I read that constipation/compacted colon can mask as diarrhea. I brought him inside for observation and he wasn’t pooping or feeling well. So I rushed him to emergency care on Sunday. They showed an extremely compacted intestines, which is called megacolon.

Greywolf spent the night and is currently undergoing a mechanical treatment with a tube down his nose to soften his stool to poo. But if this doesn’t work he’ll need surgery probably tomorrow to physically remove his blockage. Poor guy!

The current estimate is around $3,000 but can go upwards. Other than this problem his bloodwork is excellent and overall healthy. Before I drugged him with Gabapentin he was still walking normally, bouncing around, playing and wanting cuddles. Always greeting me each day even though I was shoving a pill down his throat for his original treatment.

I’m asking for some help with his funds. All my ferals are little old men and a gal so I’ll probably have vet bills in the near future. They’ve done quite well over the years the remaining ones.
