Story Behind our track ‘Freedom’
Grey Yard have collaborated with Madagascar’s largest Hip Hop group ‘Basy Gasy’ to create a special track ‘Freedom’ to promote issues and struggles with both social and environmental issues in developing countries. Together, they are using their song ‘Freedom’ as a platform to raise money for global hunger, uniting the two countries to help make a difference. Through the media, we hope to highlight some of the effects that global hunger is causing in communities around the world. This track can be streamed on Grey Yard's facebook page here or on soundcloud here
So, What Can We Do To Help?
No matter the size of your contribution, every little bit helps. For example, every $15 donated will give 1 months supply of food for a hungry child.
100% of the proceeds raised will be donated directly to the World Food Programme - who are the largest humanitarian organization helping to fight global hunger.
We have set a goal of $2,000 dollars, but regardless of what amount we raise it will all be appreciated - and go to a very worthy cause. We’ll be donating $500 from Grey Yard to start things off.
Even if you can’t donate, simply sharing this fundraiser will be a massive help.
Fighting Global Hunger
Hunger is a global issue, and we believe that - with your help - we can work together to raise as much money as possible to help make a difference.
Grey Yard’s emcee Patto is heading to Madagascar for volunteer charity work this September, and alongside this we have started a fundraiser to fight global hunger and raise money for countries who are experiencing extreme hunger and poverty. Sadly 92% of the population in Madagascar live off only $2 a day - which is amongst the lowest in the world - and we want to do our small part to help these people in need.
Why is Patto Going To Madagascar?
“I will be heading to Madagascar to do volunteer work and to also help develop Hip Hop workshops with Madagascan group Basy Gasy, as I feel that it’s my time to give something back to the world. My Mum, who passed away in 2013, dedicated a lot of her life to volunteer work in Australia, and I would like to follow in her footsteps to do what I can to improve the world that we all share”
Thank you to everyone who has contributed and shared this fundraiser, and we will keep you updated on the progress.
