In one year in the early part of the 20th century, the deaths of 196 men in one Southwestern Pennsylvania steel mill were the result of workplace accidents.
This is the story of one that wasn’t.
"1902" is the first piece in GRIST FROM THE MILL, a trilogy of storytelling pieces inspired by dark folklore and murder ballads, in which the steel mills of SouthWestern Pennsylvania playing a pivotal role.
Written and performed by Lissa Brennan, they will be presented at Carnegie Stage, with the support of The Off The Wall Charitable Trust.
"1902" will begin the series on January 17th & 18th.
With success this fundraising effort will not only subsidize this installment, but finance the creation of production elements to be utilized throughout the trilogy, both for local presentation and festival participation.
