GRIT Freedom Chair for Monica & Gene
Donation protected
I’m Monica, a full-time wheelchair user due to a neuromuscular disorder called CMT, and a mom to the world's best 11 month old, Gene. As spring, summer, and Gene’s ability to start walking approaches, I desperately want to be able to get down in our yard and play with him while he explores.
My regular wheelchair isn't up to the task, but the GRIT Freedom Chair would allow me to move around in the grass freely. I don't want to be stuck up on the patio, watching Gene from afar. I want to be right there, involved and present.
I wish I was in a place to be able to finance this special wheelchair on my own, but I'm not, so I am asking for help. Being able to play outside with my son is worth setting my pride aside. All funds raised will go directly to the GRIT Freedom Chair. Anything extra would go toward constructing a ramp from our back deck to the yard.
We recently learned that Gene inherited CMT from me, so it's more important than ever for me to show him that while we may be presented with physical limits and obstacles, we can find ways to adapt and live our lives to the fullest. I want him to one day look back on his childhood and remember his mama right there with him, playing and exploring, not watching from the sidelines.
Thank you so much for donating and sharing. Every little bit helps, and I am so grateful.
