Gro DeClerk's Battle with Brain Cancer
Donation protected
Hi everyone!
We are a group of friends fundraising for our dear friend Gro, who is currently fighting brain cancer.
Our dearest friend, our hard-working colleague, devoted mother of Erik and Andre, and loving girlfriend of Maurice, Gro Sandåker DeClerk, was recently diagnosed with Glioblastoma, brain cancer. Gro was on family vacation in Norway, living life to the fullest, when she suddenly felt confused, unwell and forgetful. Within a week Gro was diagnosed with the devastating disease. Glioblastoma is the most aggressive type of brain cancer and is always a stage 4 cancer. It usually leads to death within months, sometimes a few years. However, treatment is available, and the cancer can sometimes be treated, even cured! As this is a fast-growing tumor, time is of the utmost essence! According to the Brain Cancer Foundation, treatment can be extremely expensive, ranging from $450,000 to $700,000. Our dear friend Gro will need to go outside her current Kaiser Permanente medical insurance network for further treatment. Gro also needs a 2nd and possibly 3rd opinion to see if she qualifies for further treatment.
Gro DeClerk is a kind, gorgeous, vivacious woman, full of love and life, you just can’t help feeling happy in her presence. Gro is a loving, caring, and devoted mother to Erik and Andre, who mean the world to her. She found love again in Maurice 5 years ago, and she has never been happier! Gro has always been the prototype of good health and a bundle of positive energy. She lived a very active life, she loved to dance salsa, she would hike any mountain, she was an avid skier, loved paddle boarding and just spending time with friends and family. In addition to living an active life, Gro also devoted her time to help people look and feel their best. She worked at several medical spas in the Tysons Corner/Falls Church Virgina area.
So far Gro has received 15 radiation treatments to shrink the tumor in hope that surgery will become possible, time will tell. She is doing well and continues to be her positive and optimistic Gro we all know, though she is very tired and fatigued. As Gro’s friends and colleagues we believe and trust in YOUR kindness and help so further treatment not only may become available, but also affordable! Your generous donation will be utilized to pay for Gro’s medical bills, treatments that may save her life, or enhanced quality of life remedies!
Our goal for this GoFundMe fundraiser has been set to $200,000. We appreciate your support and are incredibly grateful for the outpouring of love for our dearest Gro. Any amount you are able to donate will help, and if you cannot afford to donate, please forwarding and share this fundraiser with friends and family. Please continue to keep Gro, and her family, in your thoughts and prayers.
Thank you for your generosity and contribution!
