Groceries for Good
Donation protected
Hello! We are Helen Prince and Mia Fireman and we are working to help support families in the DMV area during the COVID-19 pandemic. Using funds from our campaign, we will create meal bags complete with non-perishable items to feed families of four to six. We aim to provide these meal bags to families who rely on their schools for breakfast and lunch, who have difficulty getting to grocery stores due to transportation limitations, or whose family members have lost jobs during this time. Our meal bags will be filled with non-perishable items to allow for flexibility and sustainability. Supporting our local communities is more important than ever during this difficult time. 100% of your contribution will go to creating meal bags for families. Thank you and please donate! ♥♥
DETAILS
- Each meal bag will be approximately $25
- They will include these non-perishable, low sodium, and whole grain items:
» 3 cans of soup
» 2 cans of beans
» 3 cans of vegetables
» 3 cans of fruit
» 1 box of oatmeal
» 2 pounds of rice/pasta
» 1 jar of sauce
» 1 can of cooking oil, such as vegetable oil
Update (4/7/2020)
We are so amazed with all of the generous support from our community! We are getting started organizing food and we know we might need to enlist a larger group of helpers as we continue to grow and receive donations. Our plan for May is to distribute 100 bags and then to work on more distributions in June and throughout the summer, as needed and as funds allow. We know this pandemic isn't ending soon and that people who live in food deserts truly need our help.
