30% off for Frontline Healthcare Workers + Cash bonuses for our local workforce = Grove Gratitude
Grove Gratitude was created to protect a part of what makes our community so special. We are paying tribute to the diverse and charming culture of Coconut Grove. Our mission is to keep local business alive and provide assistance for hourly wage workers who have been impacted by Covid-19.
Restaurants will provide us with a list of hourly wage staff affected by the current pandemic. At regular monthly intervals, 100% of donations in the fund will be distributed directly to the employees of our partner restaurants (Just like a cash tip!). The funds are divided evenly among our participating restaurants, and then divided equally again between all of the listed employees at each restaurant (Like a pooled tip jar!).
Participating restaurants must remain open daily during the pandemic, and must offer a 30% discount (excluding alcohol) to all Frontline Healthcare Workers who present a valid ID.
Our first partnered restaurant is Atchana's Homegrown Thai.
Disclaimer: This program is updated on a monthly basis. Discounts are currently valid through May 31st.
This fund is meant to replace lost tips and cash income, not payroll. Covid-19 and disaster relief payments under Section 139 of the Internal Revenue Code provides preferential tax treatment of certain types of relief payments. Funds are to be given without being taxable to employees. This income is entirely separate from any benefits they may or may not receive from stimulus programs.
After 30 days, restaurants may choose to remain in the program by maintaining the discount. If they choose to leave the program after 30 days, no further staff support from us or from donors through our website will be available.
An initial contribution of $10k has been made to the program and the next $15k will be matched.
Thank you for supporting our community!
To be eligible to join the Grove Gratitude program, businesses must have no more than 2 locations and no more than 30 employees (must all be in Coconut Grove).
