Growing Community at The Book Nook in Canby

The Book Nook, located in the cozy small town of Canby, Oregon is an independent neighborhood bookstore and gift shop.


When we first opened in 2017 we were literally the "Book Nook" a tiny little store, with the check out counter under the stairs like Harry Potter.  We focus on fostering imagination, learning and community in a safe and accepting environment.

We believe in a healthy vibrant Canby community and we want to be a part of growing and maintaining that small town atmosphere.   

We sponsor community and in-store events from Story Time, Craft Nights, Author Meet and Greets, and more! Our ever-expanding and devoted customer base hail from throughout the Willamette Valley. We also partner with many community organizations and schools for offsite events. 


It’s been almost three years since we opened our doors, and our bookstore is at a critical moment in time. One of the main challenges we hear from our customers is the difficulty in finding our location.  We are relocating (just across the street) to a larger and more visible space – a place that our experience tells us will be a perfect new home for our community bookshop.

Our new store location has a long history that many of us miss! We are excited to be bringing gifts back to the Parson’s Building.  (Little known fact, the display counters in our store are originally from Parson’s Pharmacy and Gifts and they will be returning home!)

Our goal is to make our shop an accessible and sustainable part of our community and we believe we can in our new location. However, the move is a big step up for us, and the growth comes at an expense.  We are having the original doors put back on the grant street side of the building, bathrooms need to be built and walls and floors finished.

Many of our customers have offered to help us over the years, emotionally, physically and financially.  Our move is coming fast and we hope to raise these funds in the next few months.  Thank you for your friendship, your consideration and your time!
