Growingdome in the Clouds Foundation

Welcome! Namaste! Tashe Delek!
Join our Team in this epic ascent in raising $250,000 to design, deliver, construct and support the first eco-friendly, year-around, solar-powered, Geodesic Growing Dome to the Sir Edmund Hillary School in Khumjung Village, Nepal. Your donations to the foundation will be used exclusively for the Hillary School project.
This bold and transformative mission will be the start of an indigenously intelligent evolution of high-altitude agriculture across the high Himalaya. Multiple communities will benefit.
Like the first 'Schoolhouse in the clouds', built by Sir Ed himself, for the Sherpa communities of the Khumbu Valley, the initial 42' Dome will allow for culturally-sensitive, community-directed initiatives, including high-altitude, sustainable-regenerative agriculture, bio-diversity, enhanced nutrition and health, waste-management practices and economic development.
Curious how this all came about? Meet the characters behind the story and join them!
With your help in spreading the word along with your financial support, we plan on reaching our goals for building the first Growingdome for Principal Rai and the village in October of 2024.
Between now and then, we need to raise the funding to purchase the dome, prepare the site at the school, ship containers to Kathmandu in Nepal and then via truck and helicopter, deliver the dome in pre-fabricated, kit-form up the Khumbu Valley to Khumjung, just 12 miles from the base of Mt. Everest. We will have a company supervisor from Growing Spaces; the dome manufacturer, to assist our team with the construction, along with labor and local materials supplied by the village.
The project will also support personnel and materials to operate the Growingdome for the initial 12 months before the school and community take over full responsibilities.
Your generous support will help us ‘fly’ the dome from Colorado and over the Rockies…
...all the way to the Hillary Schoolyard high in the Himalaya.
Go ahead, take a look inside.

Funding will provide for the necessary resources and expertise to bring the Growingdome to Life! So after it’s built, with the soil and the seed, it will be ready to grow and feed… and wildly succeed!
A growing plan and custom interior design of raised planter beds will be incorporated according to the produce variety and harvest goals of the school and its Growingdome Director. Strawberries and tomatoes are sure to make the list for winter crops, which up to now, has only been an unimaginable miracle!
Yes... it's Possible!
And with the same spirit and fortitude of the school's namesake, the Hillary School will lead the way for other indigenous communities across the high Himalaya, benefitting students and community members alike.
Thank you for taking an interest in supporting our effort. We are committed to achieving mission success. We've formed a registered, nonprofit, 501(C)(3) Foundation with seasoned professionals to facilitate just that. Be highly confident that your donation will be fully utilized in the very best way possible!
As a small token of appreciation from the Sir Edmond Hillary School, for your donation of $25 or more, a 5"x7" limited edition card of the scene below, will be mailed to you. For $100 or more you will receive an 8.5" x 11" print with a premium matte finish. Yes! It's possible!
And... we've developed an educational website to share the Vision, Mission and Objectives that support our foundation's project. You will also find updates as we acclimatize, depart base camp and start our climb for the summit.
