Legal Fund for BIPOC Activist Targeted By The GRPD
Donation protected
In a blatant attack on the right to protest, a protester has been unjustly charged with felony assault on a police officer for simply amplifying their voice with a megaphone. The absurd claim that the megaphone caused injury to an officer's eardrum is not only scientifically implausible but also a dangerous assault on First Amendment rights.
The protester, who was peacefully demonstrating at a rally for Patrick Lyoya, a Congolese immigrant executed by Grand Rapids police, now faces felony charges for exercising their constitutional rights.
These funds will be collected for legal fees as we fight these baseless charges.
