Elliana's Recovery
Donation protected
4 weeks ago, if you met Elliana, you would see an almost six-year-old vibrant, energetic, and talkative girl riding her bike through the neighborhood, playing soccer with friends, or baking up a storm at home. From the time she turned 1, Elli has been a force to be reckoned with - strong-willed, confident, fiercely intelligent, and the sweetest, most caring soul who will do anything for someone she loves. And she loves a lot of people.
Now, she needs our help. On June 3rd, Elli complained of an upset stomach. As it progressed, she went to the hospital, where she was told it was strep and hypoglycemia. That was the last time her mother was able to hear her voice or see her walk.
That Wednesday, she was taken again to the hospital, and an MRI showed her cerebellum and brain stem were inflamed, blocking her ability to use her motor skills. She did not wake up for the first week, making this every parent’s worst nightmare.
Eventually, she was diagnosed with cerebellitis mute, but there still are no answers as to why or how this happened.
As Elli begins her fourth week with a long road ahead, she has been moved to a rehab and is beginning to relearn how to walk, talk, chew, and all other motor skills she no longer has control over.
Her mom, Kristen, is a single mother who would, and does, do anything for anyone. She is a constant giver, consistently sacrificing her own needs for the sake of others. As she takes care of Elli, she is also the caretaker of her two aging parents with disabilities themselves, and has few resources as it is.
As you can imagine, this sudden, unexpected journey is full of fear, unknowns, and unexpected costs. Your donation will help this loving family, and especially this little girl, navigate this terrain with a little more peace of mind.
They already feel so blessed to have such a support system behind them, as it has meant more to them than you know. Please share this link with others to help spread their story. Thank you!!
