Nolan’s Noggin

My name is FayAnne Musselman, and my husband and I live in Godley, TX. We have 3 sons- Jackson, Nolan and Weston. Our middle son, Nolan, was born with a condition called sagittal craniosynostosis. While he was in the womb, the sagittal suture of his skull fused prematurely and caused his head to grow incorrectly and restricted brain growth. When he was 2 months old, he had endoscopic surgery in El Paso with a specialist named Dr. Jimenez at the El Paso Children's Hospital on November 5, 2020. Prior to surgery, we were told that he had so much pressure in his head, that he was unable to see. He couldn't track lights like other babies his age could. During surgery, when the surgeons made the first cut into his skull, fluid shot out at them. They said it was some of the most pressure that they had ever seen. After surgery, he had 14-ish months of helmet therapy.

Unfortunately, the surgery and helmet therapy was unsuccessful and he is now needing another surgery called Cranial Vault Remodel (CVR). This is with a different surgeon in Dallas at the Medical City Children's Hospital. They will make an incision from ear to ear, and cut his skull out, reshape it, and put it back in his head. Thankfully, the hospital that his surgery will be at is in network with our insurance. However, his surgeon is not. We are having to raise $35,000 to pay for this surgery. This is just for his surgeon, not including any unforseen circumstances that arise or hospitality while we are in Dallas for his surgery. We are having to put down $7,500 immediately to book surgery and then have 4 months after surgery to pay the balance.

In order to afford this operation that is necessary for Nolan's brain development, we are throwing a benefit to raise the money. The benefit is October 30th at Old Texas Brewing Co in Burleson, TX.
