Demand at Calvary Food Shelf is higher than ever and you can help!

We currently distribute food twice a week, and just recently shared food with over 75 families in 3 hours! While the pandemic’s effects are lessening, great food insecurity remains for many. Food prices are rising out of reach, EBT/SNAP benefits are being reduced to pre-COVID levels, and households are combining in response to the high-cost housing market. Last year alone, food shelf visits in Minnesota rose by nearly 2 million (53.5%).
Donations will be used to restock our shelves and coolers with eggs, meat, fresh produce, rice, cooking oil, legumes, spices, and more. Every $100 donated sends 50+ pounds of food home for 5 families each month. How many families can YOU support this month?
Calvary Food Shelf has been in operation for nearly 40 years, serving our neighbors in South Minneapolis. As a result of the pandemic and the impacts on our community after the murder of George Floyd, need skyrocketed and our operations increased multifold. In 2022, we gave out 366,000+ pounds of food and assisted well over 22,000 people.
Calvary Food Shelf operates under the umbrella of Calvary Lutheran Church - Minneapolis. We are temporarily operating at 3553 Chicago Ave, while we wait to return to our home at 39th and Chicago.
