Gary's (Grub) Bone Marrow fund

Donation protected
In September 2011, Gary was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, a form of cancer that attacks the bones. For over a year, he had to lie on the floor as that was the only place that could provide at least some relief from the constant excruciating pain he was experiencing. Living, sleeping, and thanks to his dedicated mother, eating. The suffering originating in his back soon took control of his entire life. Finally, in March 2012, Gary had life changing back surgery that lasted 6 and a half hours. They inserted two rods and ten screws into his skeletal frame and removed only some of the cancerous tumor. The following months he progressed tremendously in a rehab facility. They transported him to a hospital often to preform 25 radiation treatments during this time. In early 2013, he returned home and dedicated his time to regaining strength. In November 2014, Gary travelled to Methodist Hospital in San Antonio to receive his bone marrow transplant. His doctor felt this was his prime time to receive the transplant and Stem Cell treatment would be most effective at this point. Following the procedure, what was supposed to be a 3 week trip turned into a 3 month struggle. The first implant was unsuccessful and forced Gary's doctors to take the last of his stem cells preserved in his bank and try one last time to save his life. Three infections and two cases of pneumonia put Gary and his family on an emotional rollercoaster that seemed never ending. When he was finally released from the hospital, he then checked into a rehab facility in Round Rock and it only took two weeks for him to build up enough strength to go home. His doctors were so impressed with his progress and he is now home and only travelling to Austin for check ups a couple times a week. He is now walking and driving on his own but not without the burden of his massive medical bills. Insurance has only paid for a small portion and left an abyss of debt. Any donation would be immensely appreciated as he is still unable to work.
