Hello friends, family, friends of family, co-workers, Marines, and perfect strangers. Tuesday, December 5, 2023, my family and I had a devastating house fire caused by a faulty wall-mounted electrical heater. I had just returned from running errands shortly before the fire started, another 20-30 minutes and the outcome would’ve been a lot worse.

Thankfully, everyone (including our 5 fur-kids) is safe with only minor injuries. While we are all physically safe, which is most important, this is a very emotionally & financially draining experience. Between the fire and smoke damage, we’ve lost just about everything. Clothes, shoes, electronics, appliances, pictures, memorabilia, my treasured Ms. PacMan standup arcade game, pool table, etc. There were a few salvageable items in the garage, but everything inside the house is completely destroyed. The frame of the house is structurally intact; however, the inside has to be completely gutted down to the frame, treated, and rebuilt, making it uninhabitable. This is going to be a long process.

I did have homeowner’s insurance; however, insurance doesn’t cover everything. The Marine in me has been humbled and I am putting my pride aside reaching out to my (our) community requesting donations to assist us in rebuilding and attempting to replace what was lost. Any donation, no matter the amount, is greatly appreciated. To my Marines, family, and close friends: Y’all know me & know that I always say “I’m ok” or “I’ll be alright”, no matter the circumstances. Not this time. This one hit me hard. I am NOT ok right now. I know God’s got me and my family and eventually we will be, but today is not that day. It’s really hard for me to be vulnerable and put this out there, but here I am.
