Help Dan Fight Cancer

Twenty-five years ago, my husband, Danny, and I were thrilled to welcome Dan into our family when he married our daughter, Misty. Through the years, we've been so impacted by Dan's integrity, kindness, and Christlikeness. For those of you who know him, you know just how true this is.

As many of you know, I've been in a fight for my life against cancer. It is with great sadness I share with all of you that Dan has recently been diagnosed with prostate cancer that has metastasized into several bones and lymph nodes.

Having walked the cancer path, I understand all too well the extreme emotional, spiritual, and physical drain (exhaustion) and suffocating weight that comes with fighting this terrible disease. And if you add the financial burden that comes with it, it often feels overwhelming.

To add fuel to the fire, Dan’s employment contract ended right in the middle of all the initial testing and diagnosis. This also ended his medical insurance with that employer. All of the out-of-pocket medical insurance deductibles had just been met with the previous employer. Thankfully, Dan was picked up by a new, smaller company that won the contract bid. However, they had to start all over and now with higher deductibles (smaller company, not as good insurance as the previous one).

Dan and Misty need our help. In just the first month with the new employer and medical insurance, their out-of-pocket medical expenses exceeded $4,000. And he's just getting started. Cancer is a terrible and expensive disease. We have an opportunity to come alongside a family that has been faithful to help so many through the years.
