Eagle Scout Project - GaGa Ball Pit
Donation protected
Greetings! My name is Robbie Killen and I am a Life Scout in Troop 434 of the Boys Scouts of America (BSA). The Scouts have a long history of helping local communities through both small and large service projects. In BSA we work our way up through several ranks beginning with the ranks of Scout and Tenderfoot with an eventual goal of becoming an Eagle Scout.
The largest hurdle to reaching Eagle Scout is completing a service project that is beneficial to the community. To that end, I have assisted many other Scouts in completing their Eagle Scout projects including repairing a tortoise habitat at a local elementary school, placing signs at sewer drains that encourage responsible liquid waste disposal, and helping to build a pavilion at my church, where I hope to also complete my project.
Boy Scouts of America is an organization whose mission is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. Troop 434 has been a consistent presence for good in Lebanon, Tennessee for over 60 years. Many young men have grown up in this program and in fact, dozens have become Eagle scouts as a result of their hard work.
I am asking for your support to help me reach my goal of becoming an Eagle Scout. I have served my community for eight years and have been an active member in Scouts since Cub Scouts. Within Boy Scouts, I have held various leadership roles. I have been a Den Chief, who is a Boy Scout who helps Cub Scouts achieve their goals in Scouting, a Troop Guide who helps all members of a troop with advancement, and currently, the Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, which is the second in command of the Troop. I am also a member of the Order of the Arrow, which is the BSA equivalent to an honor society.
For my project, I have chosen to build a GaGa ball pit for The Journey Church in Lebanon, Tennessee where I both go to church and attend school at Cornerstone Christian Academy. I have chosen this project because not only is it the unofficial sport of Scouting, but also encourages an active lifestyle and healthy socialization.
I estimate that my project will cost approximately $6,000 and ask that you consider donating in order to help me achieve my goals of helping my community and reaching the rank of Eagle Scout. Per BSA policy, any excess donations will be donated to the Children’s Ministry at The Journey Church in Lebanon, TN.
