Amelia's Dad

For those of you who don't know her, this is my niece, Amelia Kelley. Amelia was diagnosed with Mowat-Wilson syndrome shortly after birth. This is a rare and debilitating syndrome. In addition to being rendered non-verbal and unable to walk, Amelia suffered from gastrointestinal complications. These complications caused Amelia to have to endure multiple hospitalizations and surgeries. Some of these hospitalizations lasting for weeks at a time. Despite the immense challenges she faced on a daily basis, Amelia was one of the happiest little girls I have ever known. Her smile was contagious. It was impossible to be in a bad mood around Amelia. Within minutes of being in the same room with her, you forgot about the problems that had been bothering you all day and were suddenly smiling and laughing as she laughed and clapped as the boys played and chased each other around the house. She found enjoyment in all of the small things that we take for granted. Unfortunately, Amelia lost her battle and passed away Sunday morning, January 19th, 2020. Amelia's last hospitalization lasted two weeks. Over the past year, she had multiple hospitalizations. During these times her father, Jeremy, (my brother) was forced to take extensive time off from work to be with Amelia in Atlanta. Much of this time was unpaid. Many of my friends, co-workers and acquaintances have asked what they can do to help my brother and his family during this time. So, I decided to set up this account to allow those of you who want to help out financially, to do so. Thank you for reading this post; your help is appreciated!
