Help Cindy Pinto Fight Cancer

Donation protected
Dear friends, family, and those I haven't met before,

Aunt Cindy is fighting cancer for the second time. If you don't know her,  she is a kind soul. she is the best cook, a great dancer, lover of 80s music, wonderful at giving soft, warm hugs, and swift kisses on the cheek that make you smile. She's the kind that goes above and beyond to make sure everyone has whatever they need when they visit. She is hospitable, doting, and loves to serve others.  She is a nurse by trade, and she works a full-time job caring for others, but now finds herself in need of that same care.

When she received word she had cancer the first time, she kept it private and only told a select few, not wanting to alarm anyone. As a nurse, she explained everything calmly to the family and told us what to expect. She lives in Nampa, Idaho and her first treatments took place in Salt Lake City, Utah, about a 5.5 hour drive. She did her chemo treatments a week at a time in SLC, and the family worked hard dropping her off at these appointments, staying with her in Utah when we could, and picking her up again at the end of the week to return home until the next round of chemo.

This became her life: she couldn't go to work; she barely had the energy to cook a meal or clean the house.  Her and her husband were confined to one income. Her kids, husband, and mother-in-law stepped up to the challenge and started doing all the things around the house that she normally would do. Her kids even chipped in money on household bills so that everyone could work together to stay afloat.  If you know my aunt, you know she stayed strong and kept her struggles to herself. Chemo took a toll on her health, she was dizzy a lot and nauseous. She also had to stay indoors during this process, since she was part of the a risk-group for COVID. She went months without being able to hug her sisters and other members of the family that lived outside her household.

After the chemo treatments were complete, she underwent surgery to remove the tumor. After almost a whole year's process, she was deemed cancer-free. We were all so happy for her when she went into remission. She is a strong woman and wanted to go back to work as soon as she was able. She really missed her patients and having something to strive for every day.

Life was starting to go back to normal, her hair was growing back, she was physically feeling better, and she was back at work, and able to go out. Then bam! This January, they found another malignant tumor. The whole family was devastated to hear this news, but most of all, we were concerned with my Aunt Cindy's emotional, physical, and mental state to go through this again.

Once again, she met with cancer. She started her chemo treatments again in January. And just last week, she received news that she needs to do radiation treatments for the next 6 weeks, instead of continuing chemo treatments because the side effects are too great for her body. This means that she needs to stay in Salt Lake City, Utah for 6 weeks. She'll have to rent a place to stay during this time, and she'll need money for groceries and meals, and cost in gas to get down to Utah and back.

My aunt and uncle have been together for 20+ years, and they are the nicest, warm-hearted, kind, fun, hard-working, and loving people.  But they cannot afford a 6-week stay in SLC on their own. This is where you come in. My family and I are asking on behalf of my aunt and uncle, if you would be so kind as to give what you can to help with the cost of her stay while she does radiation treatments.

The money we raise for her would go to:
rent of a place to stay (hotel/AirBnB)
food/groceries
gas

Any money raised beyond our goal will go to the cost of her medical bills.

Even $1 is one more dollar closer to our goal. If you cannot give, could you pray for her and for the family, and for this financial goal to succeed? Could you please share our page?

It cannot ignore that throughout her journey and story, God's work has been part of it all. We know He is at work. Many of you have been praying, and for some of you, this is the first you've heard the news. We ask you to join us in prayer for my aunt. My aunt has continued to tell me, "I guess God wants me here for a reason, and my work is not done until He says so." One of the things she brings this back to is how thankful she is to have time with her grandbaby.  We believe, someone who cares for the lives of others, should be allowed to be cared for as well.

Thank you all for reading to the end, for doing this journey with us, and supporting my aunt with love.
