Emily Hess could use our help and prayers.

Emily loves caring for and helping people! Her job has been working in operating rooms for over 20 years. Operating rooms are where Emily shines. She helps people by setting up for surgery cases, assisting and passing instruments to doctors as well as teaching people along the way. She knew if she stuck around long enough in her profession a difficult and life-changing case would come along. Little did she realize this life-changing case would be her.

In May, Emily went to urgent care with a fever and back pain where she found out she had what the PA called a "raging UTI." They sent her to the ER. At the ER, they ordered a CT scan and she quickly noticed she had lots of medical professionals concerned about her. That CT scan ended up keeping her in the hospital for a week along with many more tests the doctors wanted to be done. At the time she had just started a new travel position job and unfortunately health insurance wouldn't begin until the 1st of the following month. As you can imagine this caused the medical bills to add up quickly.

Emily found out while she was in the hospital that she had a rare cancer, Mucinous Adenocarcinoma, coming from the outside of her colon and her cancer had spread (metastasized) making her stage 4. The only symptom she was having was what she thought were night sweats. Turns out those night sweats were nightly fevers.

As of today, Emily has undergone 5 chemo treatments with more coming up. The doctors have been pleased with her results and how the chemo is shrinking the tumors. The doctors believe Emily is ready for a debulking surgery (surgery to remove her cancer) and a HIPEC (hot chemo wash). Before this surgery can be done there will be a laparoscopic surgical procedure to verify and access visually to decide if a bigger procedure is ready to be done.

The last few months have been a huge life change for Emily. It has been incredibly challenging mentally, physically and emotionally. Emily is grateful for the village that supports and surrounds her!

Due to this huge life change of having stage 4 cancer, chemo treatments and chemo side effects Emily hasn't been able to work. The medical bills are large from her week's stay in the hospital when she was diagnosed (and her health insurance hadn't started yet). We are asking for your help.

Your support means so much and you are truly making a difference in her life! Thank you for anything you can contribute. Any financial donation you make will bless Emily and make a difference by helping to pay off her large medical bills. Feel free to share her story. She knows with your support, prayers, and well wishes, she can get through this.
