Amanda's medical expense

Hi Friends, my name is Angela, and I have an "ask"...It’s a long story so bear with me a bit.
I have a friend, Amanda, and you may or may not know who she is or the story at all. But, here is what I am asking.
I’ve known about this for a while and couldn’t think of what I could do to help, and then I realized. Random acts of kindness from random people bring people together, closer to God.
Amanda is happily married with 3 wonderful, healthy children. She had a friend, whom, for reasons that are completely irrelevant to this story, was unable to conceive a child.
Amanda knew of her friends’ situation, and offered to be a surrogate to allow her the opportunity to be a Mother. She felt that she was put here to do this for this woman and bring her closer to God. To give her THE greatest gift a person could give, the most selfless act. Not only selfless on Amanda’s part, but of her family as well. Amanda did not want anything in return. She was not compensated in any way other than knowing in her heart she was doing the right thing. Nothing bad should happen, right? Unfortunately everything bad that could happen, DID.
The implantation was complete and low and behold, double the happiness, she was pregnant with twins. So, to cut this story a little shorter, merely to get to my question, I am going to go through this quickly.
Essentially, they had a mildly uneventful beginning, yet by week 15 or so there were some problems for at least one of the babies, if not both. By week 18 Amanda was in the hospital, very, very sick, easy to write, yet doesn’t establish how sick. Not even I realized how sick, because, quite frankly, Amanda has kept a lot of this to herself, and humbly spoken of it only recently. I actually had to ask some of the details.
She was dead set on having these babies, even at the risk of her own health, for which her family was extremely concerned. The physicians had to deliver the babies early, before viability, to SAVE, yes SAVE Amanda’s life. In fact, Amanda’s organs starting shutting down. I don’t speak of this lightly, this is a big deal.
So, devastated, Amanda delivered the babies, and tried to start healing physically and emotionally. After much difficulty from not only the pregnancy, but the delivery she returned to work. Her co-workers were gracious enough to donate some vacation time (because Amanda had none, it was used already due to the pregnancy complications) so she had enough time off work for recovery.
Now, tragically, that is not the end. Over the next several weeks, Amanda continued to bleed, and almost 3 months after she delivered they planned a simple procedure (yes, it takes less than an hour in the OR) to get the bleeding stopped. Horribly, it did not go well. They could not control the bleeding and she ended up with a complete hysterectomy (taking the entire uterus).
So….not only did she carry two babies, delivered them devastatingly too soon to survive, and almost died in the process, BUT she has also endured a total hysterectomy.
Through this all, she has used up her entire vacation and sick time, as well as her own money to pay medical expenses related to the hysterectomy. All this, to do a completely selfless act by giving a gift of motherhood. Speaking to her personally, she is in pain, emotionally, physically and faithfully. It is difficult in so many ways, not one of us can or could understand. This is why I am doing this, so here is my ask…..
I want to restore her faith in humanity, which, to be honest, knowing the whole story, being in her shoes, I would be confused and question a whole lot more than just humanity.
I am creating a donation site, as well as taking donations personally to give to her. I am offering multiple ways to donate to help her cover just some of her medical expenses and time off. I would like to show her that graciousness and God are present and people come together to give and love one another through tragedy.
So it is CLEAR, Amanda has NOT requested this from me, it was purely my idea.
Any little bit can help her, even $5.
Thank you in advance for even the smallest of gifts. I realize that there are so many people that are in need and we can spread ourselves thin in trying to help. I wouldn’t ask this if I didn’t believe this was needed and deserved. Love you all, and thank you for reading and praying for her and her family.
