Guardians of the Gotwalds vs. Aplastic Anemia

If you know her personally, then you know she is the most kindhearted, energetic, fun-loving, and caring person you could meet. She’s a loving mother to two very young beautiful girls, Ellie and Abby. An outstanding wife to her husband, Ben, and only daughter of two loving parents. Her family and friends love and adore her to no end.

At only 33 years old, Jeanne has been given the life altering diagnosis of Aplastic Anemia with PNH complications.

This is not your typical anemia. This beast of a disease more resembles Leukemia. It’s a rare condition in which the body – more specifically her bone marrow - stops producing enough new blood cells. This disease is serious. Her immune system is essentially non-existent and any illness, bleeding or infection can be life-threatening. Due to the severity of this disease, Jeanne will need a bone marrow transplant ASAP. The transplant will keep her in the hospital for at least a month – if not longer. While trying to focus on improving her health during this critical time, she will desperately miss and worry about her girls.

Since the beginning of this journey, Jeanne has maintained such a high level of positivity ....to a miraculous degree. If anyone can take on this disease, it’s Jeanne. She’s ready to fight and we all want to help. Life is changing for the Gotwald family, especially with the frequency of hospital visits that will be required to win this fight. This has been devastating for Jeanne, as an educator in the community, her passion of teaching children will have to be put on hold. In addition to medical bills, there are many unforeseen expenses that will pile up since they are now down to one income.
