Gulabi Sambad is a unique and impactful podcast program dedicated to addressing crucial issues surrounding sexual and reproductive health and rights. It is a labor of love led by two passionate ladies committed to creating a safe and inclusive space for discussing topics that are often stigmatized and overlooked. Our podcast covers a wide range of subjects, including but not limited to sexual health education, reproductive rights, menstruation, contraception, and LGBTQ+ inclusivity.
We firmly believe in the transformative power of open conversations to dismantle barriers, challenge misconceptions, and enhance understanding of these vital issues. The chaotic circumstances of the initial phase of COVID-19 saw a surge in cases related to sexual, reproductive, and mental health problems among teenagers. Additionally, instances of cybercrime, including online bullying, harassment, and violence, reached alarming levels.
In response to this troubling trend, Sabita and Karuna, former senior program officer and program associate at Saathi Sanga Manka Kura, respectively, embarked on a creative initiative to facilitate healthy discussions on sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and mental health. They officially launched the podcast series, Gulabi Sambad, and are currently volunteering their time and efforts in program production, drawing on their personal experiences.
With a combined decade of effective work in the communications and mass media sector, Acharya and Devkota, the driving forces behind Gulabi Sambad, have been consistent advocates for SRHR issues. Despite the plethora of information available on SRHR topics online, they recognized the inadequacy and sometimes manipulative nature of such information. Feedback from audiences and well-wishers over the past three years has underscored the pressing need for open discussions on SRHR issues in society.
Acknowledging the prevalence of social, cultural, and traditional superstitions in Nepal hindering open discussions on SRHR, Gulabi Sambad has persisted in producing podcasts to break down these barriers. The podcast's accessibility on online platforms has facilitated diverse content with interactive engagement from a wide audience.
As volunteers, we have devoted our time and energy to produce high-quality content that educates and empowers our audience. While we are proud to volunteer our time, the reality is that producing a podcast involves various costs, such as equipment, hosting fees, and marketing. In order to continue delivering valuable content and expanding our reach to address diverse aspects of sexual and reproductive health, we are seeking financial support from generous individuals and organizations like yours.
We genuinely appreciate your consideration and support in advancing the conversation around sexual and reproductive health rights. Together, we can make a difference and contribute to a more informed and empowered society.
