Gun Lake Fire - Dunbars' Cabins Rebuild Fund

Hello, my name is Monroe Dunbar. I was raised in the Bridge River Valley BC by my father Doug Dunbar and Mother Jeannette Dunbar (both born and raised in Bralorne BC) at our family property on Gun Lake. This property was one of the first properties developed on the lake back in the 1930s. My Grandfather Tom Dunbar purchased the property in the 1950s and has since housed four generations of Dunbars, hosted many beach parties, potlocks, and water sports days for our friends and family around the lake.

On Aug 1st 2023 a raging forest fire burning out of control devastated the Dunbar property burning through all 20 acres and destroying all three cabins and outbuildings (including my grandfather's and now father's beloved workshop). Due to ridiculously high costs for fire insurance, my family was not able to afford and we have no available funds to clean up and hopefully rebuild the legacy that was left to us by Tom and Violet Dunbar.

We would be so very appreciative and thankful for any donations that can be used to purchase building materials to rebuild the three historic cottages.

My family is devastated by the loss of our beloved family jewel and the lack of resources available to assist us in rebuilding efforts. We welcome any assistance but at this time funding is critical to start the clean up and rebuild process.

The Dunbar family would like to send our heartfelt condolences to all other Gun Lake community members who have suffered similar losses. We will be there with our tool belts on to assist you with rebuilding when the time comes!
