An Appeal To Help Gurudas avoid homelessness
Dear Devotees and Friends worldwide,
Please accept our humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.
Many of you may know Gurudas (Roger Siegel). He was an early, (8th), disciple of Srila Prabhupada, taking initiation in April 1967 in San Francisco.
He was a confidential servant, friend, advisor, confidant, and like a son to Srila Prabhupada. Srila Prabhupada called him “our good-will ambassador”.
He has helped, counselled and been a friend to many worldwide, with his compassion and empathy.
In his 53 years of devotional service to Srila Prabhupada and Sri Sri Radha and Krishna he has pioneered many projects, including establishing the highly successful London Radha Krishna temple, introducing George Harrison to Srila Prabhupada who donated the Bhaktivedanta Manor and establishing the now world-famous Sri Sri Krishna Balaram temple in Sri Vrindavan dham.
Seeing ISKCON is yet to develop a support structure for elder devotees who have given their best years in service and devotion, Gurudas set up the Vedic Care Charitable Trust to help and serve his godbrothers and sisters and other senior devotees in their later years of life, many who unfortunately fell on hard times and are isolated, poor and feel forgotten.
Gurudas himself has now fallen on hard times, and is desperately in need of your financial assistance to keep his residence and day to day living.
He may soon be homeless as he and his family lost their already low incomes. He is in his 79th year and still serving, but the stress of these financial burdens is contributing to poorer health. Therefore, we are reaching out to you on his behalf. We hope to raise enough money to keep Gurudas financially and worry-free for the remainder of his life.
Thank you so much for assisting this noble cause to help such a worthy devotee to whom we all owe a great debt of gratitude.
Jai Srila Prabhupada & his selfless servant
