Gus with his emergency life saving surgery
Donation protected
On Dec 10th we came home from a family dinner out, fed our sweet dog Gus and within 10 minutes noticed him acting very strange. My gut told me he could possibly have bloat (where a dogs stomach can flip and as the stomach fills with air, pressure builds, stopping blood from the hind legs and abdomen from returning to the heart). I called an emergency vet down in Victoria and they suggested bringing him down as soon as possible.
After examining him, turns out he had gotten bloat, which meant he had hours to live if he didn’t receive an emergency surgery.
We are so lucky I had listened to my intuition and we caught it early enough to even have the option to have a surgery done for him, they said it would most likely be a quick, fast recovery time and he had a great chance of survival with how quickly we brought him in.
This is the most difficult decision to make, let our beloved member of the family get put down or get this surgery which is $10,000, when they have told us he will live through it and live a normal life again.
There is a never a good time for these things, but saying goodbye didn’t seem like the right thing to do.
Hoping that if you can donate any amount and/or share this with those around you in hopes to ease this financial blow, we would be forever grateful.
