Gus-Embedded Shoe Lace/Gun Shots

Persistent pays off. After many of us went in search for him throughout the day, this poor angel was finally found this evening.
We found him in this enclosed space in the back of the apartments where I lost him at this morning. We were about to walk right past it, then noticed the opening and looked inside with a flashlight. After a few seconds, we commented about how badly it reeked in there. We were about to go in to look in a room that's inside when the dog came strolling out. He was about to make a run for it through the opening when we blocked it off. And set the trap up next to the opening for him to go inside
You can see the shoelace in the last picture. SHOELACES DON'T BELONG ON DOGS!!!
Vergi said it's the worst they've seen please donate if you can. His vetting will be costly
As if having a shoestring cutting into his flesh and tissue isn't enough, our sweet boy, Gus, has been repeatedly shot with a pellet gun. His whole body is riddled with pellets! Can you see the white dots? Those are all embedded pellets in his body. I can't even begin to imagine the depth of suffering this dog has endured.
More bad news: This morning around 4:00 am, Gus was sedated for the cleaning and exploration of the wound. The surgeon debrided as much as she could but she stopped when she got to the areas of hard scar tissue near his jugular vein and carotid artery. To attempt to remove this scarring could create secondary problems with unknown consequence.
With this knowledge, we are planning to transfer Gus to a soft tissue specialist at Texas A&M Small Animal Clinic. It is possible that he will have surgery there on Friday.
On the bright side, Gus is heartworm negative and his blood work was somewhat normal with a few understandable exceptions due to his condition. He is being closely monitored and still on pain meds and antibiotics. He is eating a little bit and resting.
Please continue to send prayers to Gus. As we continue down this road with him, his medical expenses continue to rise. Please donate if you can and help us help Gus.
