Gus, Max and Huck Carlson

Dear Friends and Family,

We are reaching out on behalf of three wonderful young men - Gus, Max, and Huck Carlson. Their family has just suffered an overwhelming loss with the passing of their father Brian Carlson on November 18, 2023. Brian and his boys were a strong unit. This loss was preceded by another tragedy in April 2015 when the boys' beloved mom, Cathy, died in a camping accident. Brian and the boys pushed forward as he took on the role of single father and grieving widower while also recovering from his own significant injuries sustained in the camping accident. In 2015, the boys lost their mother in the midst of their childhoods, and now as young men in 2023 they have lost their father.

Gus, Max, and Huck find themselves facing the daunting task of navigating life without the guiding presence of their parents. Huck is currently a high school senior with ambitions to attain a college education next year, Max is continuing his studies as a junior at the University of Louisville, and Gus, the oldest, recently graduated from the University of Kentucky.

We are reaching out to ask for your support in raising funds to alleviate the financial strain on these remarkable young men. Your contribution will go towards immediate living expenses, funeral expenses, home repair, and college tuition and related expenses.

I am not related to the Carlson family, nor am I receiving or managing any of these donated funds. Gus, Max and Huck Carlson are the beneficiaries of all donations collected on this campaign.

Our families have been friends for the last 10+ years and we became closer with Brian after Cathy passed away in 2015. They are godparents to our daughter, and our sons have been friends with Gus, Max and Huck and shared in extracurriculars including chess, band and youth group throughout elementary, middle and high school.

Gus and Max are working to set up a bank account to which these funds will be directly deposited. Gus will ensure that all donations are used for needs specified above as agreed upon by all three sons. Once the bank account is set up, funds will be transferred from GoFundMe. I am monitoring this regularly and am in regular contact with Gus to ensure this is handled correctly.
