Guyana Orphanage Assistance

Hi, my name is Ackran Jabar and I am raising money for The Shaheed's Boys and Girls Orphanage in Guyana. I recently visited Guyana in March 2022 for the very first time in my life on a family vacation. I am blessed to be in my current position in life right now because of my Grandparent's sacrifices and hardships, immigrating from Guyana to the US in the early 80's. On my trip I wanted to give back to the kids in Guyana, so my family and I visited the Shaheed's Boys and Girls Orphanage in Georgetown. There I met Merissa Permaul, Secretary of the Orphanage. After talking to Merissa for a little while she explained to me that both the boy's and girl's orphanages are receiving little to no assistance from both private and government funding. She explained in depth about the children in their care and all that entails in helping them through life. We were not able to walk around or interact with the rest of the staff or the children because of COVID-19 protocols but we were given a list of needed items. We were fortunate enough able to donate these supplies in bulk to help out as much as we could. Also, it is important to point out the supplies I am talking about are basic life needs, nothing fancy, nothing special, in reality, the bare minimum. It was crazy to me that these are the things they are requesting (a list of the supplies will be below) because they don't have any. The shock of this realization prompted me to let Merissa know that even when I go back to the states I promise to continue to help them as much as I can.

Since my return to the U.S., I have been in contact with Merissa about the needs of the facilities. She asked for my help to redo the kitchen in the Orphanage. Merissa has already received quotes for the tile and the new cupboard/ countertop unit. Together the quote is $245,300.00 GUY which is equal to around $1200.00 USD.

I am hoping to raise them to double this amount so they can use the extra to purchase the rest of the material that will be needed to redo the kitchen plus to help with any other maintenance/ remodels to both the building itself and the orphanages' day to day operating needs.
