Battle for Beau - Support the Dale family

Update November 7, 2023:

Hi everyone,

I’m sorry I haven’t posted before this. The last couple months have been incredibly hard to wrap my mind around - it’s all been so much for me and for my kids. Truthfully, I really had no words… even still, I’m just trying to process it all.

I’m deeply grateful for all the generosity that everyone has shown my family. It’s hard to formulate words to express how grateful I am. Friends, family, and people I haven’t had the pleasure to meet, have shown us so much love. I’m genuinely touched and am so thankful for all of the support.

Riley is doing well physically and is currently staying with family, while I’ve been in the hospital with Beau since the accident. It hasn’t been easy on her, not being with us during this difficult time, but she’s making the best of it. Thankfully, my family and friends help so I can be with her as much as possible.

Beau has had a really long road in his recovery. From his surgeries, not being able to move at all, or to speak, eat or drink… to finally being able to sit up for a few minutes on his own, taking his first steps, bites of actual food, and speaking his first words again. I can’t tell you how incredibly proud I am of him. He’s so determined to get better.

Both kids were devastated when I had to tell them their father didn’t make it. They continue to struggle in trying to make sense of this tremendous loss, as do I. Thanks to all of the support from everyone, I’m able to focus solely on them and our grief.

We’re hopeful that Beau will be able to leave the hospital within the next few weeks so that we can be together and continue to rebuild our lives. It won’t ever be the same without Steve and Beau still has a long way to go, but I know we’ll get there.

I just wanted to say thank you to you all from the bottom of my heart for helping us. It honestly means so much and we are forever grateful.

Update September 10, 2023:

Wow, Alaina is overwhelmed with the amount of love, support and generosity everyone has shown through this awful ordeal. No words can be said on how thankful she is to everyone!

In day 1 of sharing this GoFund Me, we surpassed our goal and hope to keep surpassing it.

The number of family, friends, colleagues, friends of friends, family of friends, and complete strangers that have donated has been incredible.

No amount of money will be able to fix the terrible tragedy she is facing, but this money will ease the burden on Alaina and her family so she can focus on Beau’s long recovery and not have to stress about not being able to work.

I know Alaina and her family will always be on all of our minds over the course of this journey ahead, so we will try and share updates as we can.

On Monday, August 28th, the Dale family's world was shattered when Steve, Beau (8) and Riley (6) were involved in a devastating and fatal car accident. What was to be a peaceful weekend getaway quickly turned into a life-changing nightmare that no one could have foreseen. Tragically, Steve, beloved father to Beau and Riley, and loving husband to Alaina Sweet, lost his life. Meanwhile, Beau's life is left hanging in the balance and the family is facing a long and difficult road to recovery ahead.

Steve was more than just a father, husband, brother, son and friend; he was also a coach and mentor to many and his sudden loss has left a void that can never be filled. Our collective grief is a testament to the impact he had on our lives.

Today, Beau, a remarkable young soul, is showing incredible strength as he fights to recover at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO). With his super mom, Alaina, steadfastly by his side, Beau's determination and resilience shine as a beacon of hope in our hearts.

Their future is uncertain and the path to recovery will undoubtedly be challenging. During this difficult time, the many people who love Alaina and her children would like to show support in every way we can. As a united community, we have the power to uplift and support the Dale family during this trying time.
