Joanne's medical expenses
Donation protected
Our lovely Joey (Joanne) is weathering her third bout with cancer. After battling a brain tumor in 2002, she recovered following surgery and chemotherapy, living a full and happy life, traveling the world and taking in as many Bon Jovi concerts as she could until she met her wonderful husband Mike in 2010.
They began building a life together and she was again stricken with the disease - this time breast cancer in 2015. She rebounded after a mastectomy and another harrowing bout of chemo that made her incredibly sick and unable to work or live the life she wanted and deserved. Joanne could scarcely eat for months. Again, she fought the good fight and recovered.
As if she hadn't already been tested enough, she fell ill again after she and Mike returned from a vacation in January, hopeful that the worst was behind them. Sadly, she has another battle to wage.
Joanne became increasingly dizzy and sick right around the New Year, and her doctors determined a second brain tumor had recurred. This time, a tumor attached itself to her brain stem, which is a supremely delicate part of the brain. It is inoperable. Her doctors have managed to shrink it with radiation and continuing chemotherapy. The tumor significantly affected her mobility, speech and other aspects of her beautiful self. After more than a month in the hospital undergoing brutal therapies, Joanne is working to rebound once again.
Through it all, Joey has lost some things but not her beautiful smile that lights up the whole room - or her sweet nature. She has endured most of this nearly silently, leaning only on her loving husband, family and a few close friends. She seems indomitable, but no one is. She and Mike could use our support.
Joanne may need ongoing hospitalizations, certainly therapy and likely long-term care. She is obviously unable to work at the moment, and though Mike serves the people of Connecticut every day as a police officer, they will undoubtedly incur expenses that are beyond them. Any donations would be greatly appreciated. Joanne has paid it forward her whole life as an unflaggingly sweet, kind and generous person, and she deserves it. Thanks for anything you can do.
