Help Natalie with her Medical Bills!

Hello, friends and family of Natalie Mayer!

As many of you know, Natalie has been through quite the health journey battling ITP and Ovarian cancer. The short version of her journey looks something like this:

Feb 2020: Ovarian Cancer discovered followed by two incredibly intense surgeries. ITP undiagnosed at this point, but she had to receive multiple platelet transfusions before each surgery.

Nov 2020: ITP diagnosis, as platelet numbers continued to drop dangerously low. She started several steroid treatments.

Feb 2021: 1 year full cancer remission!

Nov 2020 - Today:

Eight or so hospital visits/stays, countless blood draws, countless doctor appointments, many rounds of steroids, transfusions, bone marrow tests, DNA testing, blood tests, diet and lifestyle changes, new drugs, and insurance battles. She has to face the fear of infections, the fear that minor accidents could be fatal, excessive major bruising, daily headaches, an increase in migraines, depression, exhaustion, and brain fog. Weekly blood tests have become an unwavering routine, tracking her progress and platelet counts.

This week she has been released after another hospital stay in Sacramento, CA and doctors are looking into new paths forward. When she arrived at the hospital her platelets were at 5,000. After steroids and a hospital stay they are stable at 142,000 (average is between 150,000-450,000).

One treatment that has shown promise to stop the cycle of her platelets dropping is Rituxan Infusions which aims to restore the platelet balance that her body desperately needs. She will need to do 4 rounds of this treatment on the mainland.

We are hoping to raise 10k for Natalie which will help with hospital bills, treatments, travel costs and any additional costs that will help get Natalie to a stable place with her health. She is committed to exploring every avenue available. This includes conventional medicine and embracing nutrition, exercise, and holistic therapies.
