Gwakabbo School Project - Uganda
Donation protected
The Lango sub-region of Uganda experienced war, devastation, trauma and a lack of development for over 20 successive years since the late 1980s. The community of Dokolo where Gwakabbo Community Comprehensive Secondary School is located suffered from endemic problems of insurgencies due to the protracted civil war, insecurity, political instability and underdevelopment till the late 1990s. As a result, the community has lagged behind the rest of the country in much of its socio-economic and educational progress.
The aim of the Gwakabbo School Project is to bring the school closer to the populace, which would prevent some families and children from searching for a school which might be further away. Secondly, funding would help provide good comprehensive training for students, whose education might have been truncated due to various challenges within the local community, thereby enabling them access to training and acquiring skills for life.
The school is anticipated to expand into higher education institutions providing degree and non-degree programs in the future.
