Gwen & Harry's Hurricane Ian Recovery Effort
Donation protected
October 10, 2022 Update: As my mother is living with us, a portion of the funds are currently being used to replace their personal items (clothing, shoes, etc). We will ensure they have long-term housing (no matter what they receive from FEMA); therefore, the rest of the funds will be used to replace the contents of their home (furniture, dishes, electronics, etc).
My name is Kelly Hall, my mother and step-father, Gwen and Harry, lost everything, including their home in Ft Myers Beach, during Hurricane Ian. They live on a fixed income and did not have homeowners insurance. They are currently staying with me in Tampa but are looking to get into an apartment closer to Ft Myers to attend doctor appointments and work to clear their lot to eventually rebuild. We were able to get some of their clothes, but with 7ft of water in their home, they lost everything: personal care items, housewares, food, clothing, and shoes. Everything you need to live. They have applied for FEMA relief, however we are unsure when they will receive anything. Their home was paid for, which was the only way they could live there as they could not afford monthly payments.
My Mom is very proud and does not want to receive any charity from anyone, but desperate times call for desperate measures.
These funds will be used for basic personal necessities and temporary housing while they wait for financial aid from FEMA. Any access donations will be used to help other local families in need.
Thank you in advance for your consideration.
