Gwen’s cancer diagnosis ❤️

The 17-year-old, Gwen Botson, is a junior at First Flight High School, where she is adjusting to receiving a recent diagnosis. Gwen has been diagnosed with ovarian and cervical cancer. At this time, we gather to pray and support our friend during her treatments. The difficulties of navigating this situation are extreme for both her friends, and even more so for her family. During times of struggle, the Outer Banks have always come together to aid one another. It was not a request from her family, but I thought I would launch a fundraiser for our friend, Gwen. As part of this process, the Botson family will have their full attention on their daughter as she begins her treatment. The money received can be used towards travel, food, hotel stays, medical expenses, and anything else they need. Gwen has maintained an outgoing personality reflected on the fields, whether she is playing lacrosse or other competitive games for Dare County sports teams. When Gwen's name is mentioned, a few key characteristics come to mind. She is unapologetically herself, kind, smart, thoughtful, fearless in her pursuits of life, and fiercely loyal. In her free time, she enjoys spending days with friends and family, going to the beach, surfing, skateboarding, being in nature, and helping others. Our prayers are with Gwen and her family as she begins her journey. Collectively, let's show unconditional love and support to this family. We love you Botson’s!
