Gwen's Fight: Brain Tumor in Pituitary Gland

Hi, My name is Essie Prigge. I started this fundraiser for my best friend Leslie Barnett's beautiful daughter Gwen!

Gwen has been living with symptoms that no doctor has had answers for. Leslie & Pete are incredible parents and are the best advocates for their daughter; sadly, insurance is fighting them every step of the way and making it difficult for Gwen to receive the best medical care she needs.

Here is a little bit of Gwen's story " Since April 2017 Gwen has suffered with severe orbital eye pain and lots of new symptoms that have made her day to day life difficult. Over the last 5 years we have been to countless neurologists, ENTs, rheumatologists, optometrists Ophthalmologists, pediatric neuro-ophthalmologists and numerous hospitals. We’ve visited emergency room after emergency room desperately trying to find an answer for Gwen but no one could figure it out. BUT AFTER 5 years and 5 months of advocating for our beautiful girl we FINALLY received a concrete diagnosis...

Gwen was diagnosed with a 7mm brain tumor in her pituitary gland. Since then it has been a whirlwind of long hours educating ourselves, doing research, working with insurance, nerosurgeons and endocrinologists to find Gwen the best treatment possible.

Currently, the family is doing everything possible to get Gwen the BEST surgeon specializing in this rare condition in children. It IS RARE IN CHILDREN. Sadly the best surgeon is not covered under their insurance in- network, so we are trying to raise money to help this family to help alleviate some of the financial burdens that comes with this awful diagnoisis.
