Community School in Tsum valley
Donation protected
My Name is Dhawa Gyanjen Lama, I grew up in the Tsum Valley Gorkha District, in Nepal. When I was 8 years old I was able to attend local primary school in the Valley. However, after primary school there is no further education available. My Father traveled to Hong Kong and realized the importance of education, so he sent me to go to school in the City of Gorkha at the age of 13. It takes 7 days to walk there from home. I carried everything in a basket to go there and slept under trees, then I stayed with a Hindu family in Ghorkha for 8 years to get my education. I had to take care of myself, cook my food and wash my clothes, I had to learn a new language, it was very hard to change everything. My family would come one time a year to see me because it is so far away. Most of the children in the Tsum Valley are not able to attend school like I did because they are unable to leave their families like this. I am so grateful for my education and have been given opportunities to contribute to the community. I would like for the children of the Tsum Valley to be able to go school in their local area. The primary school has been damaged by the earthquake and there is no available education. Please help me provide education to the people of this region, I would like to build a school in the Valley. We can help to provide them with a brighter future and the incredible opportunities that education brings to a community. Even the smallest of contributions can help towards this goal. Please contribute to this fund to help the children of the Tsum Valley become educated members of society.
