Lynette Engel (Woods) Medical Expenses

We recently found out my mom has some Plasmocytoma bone lesions (bone cancer tumors) on her hips and tail bone; which is typically a precursor to a Multiple Myeloma cancer diagnosis. This all started about a year ago when mom started having sciatic pain in her left hip. Being the tough woman she is, she has powered through the pain over the last year. If you know Lynette at all, you know she is completely selfless and the type to put everyone else before herself. Getting finally unbearable, she went to an orthopedic clinic to see what was causing the pain. After X-rays, MRIs, CT scans, biopsies and blood tests we have the answer… cancer. Such a scary word to hear from the doctors! There is some good news through all of this though. The bone lesions are isolated to the bones in her hips, with no other spreading to any other organs or body systems, including the bone marrow which is typical for this disease process. Sounds like we have caught this early enough in the process to have not spread too far.

This has all come really fast for our family, and she is starting her first round of chemotherapy this week. Radiation and stem cell therapy will likely happen in the future too.

I also had cancer when I was only 12, and my mom was my rock through every bit of my treatment and recovery. I’m hoping we can rally a bit of support for her and help keep her mind on recovering, instead of the medical bills that are sure to pile up.

All these tests, treatments and therapies will be expensive for her and there may be some down time from work as she moves forward. All the money donated will go towards her treatment and medical expenses.
