Penny Henderson

Hello, my name is Renae Lozada and I am fundraising for my very best friend, Penny. In May, 2023, Penny was informed that her youngest brother had died tragically in a pedestrian accident. Her brother, (DeWayne's) car became disabled on a busy street. The car was leaking gas and Dewayne moved his children to safety in the median. He had to return to his car, (reason unknown) and was struck and killed by an oncoming car. He died upon impact in front of his two small children. Penny (who resides in New York), went to Grand Rapids immediately to not only make preparations for her brother's funeral, but to assume care of his 2 children ( who are autistic).

While in Michigan, Penny ended up in the emergency room because of a numbness in her mouth. During her exam, it was discovered that Penny was in stage 4 lymphomia cancer. Penny was immediately put into ICU to begin treatment. Penny's cancer is one of the most aggressive, according to the Oncologist. Penny's children (who reside in New York), are in Grand Rapids currently caring for the small children. Unfortunately, the apartment that Penny's brother leased will not be renewed. The family has until June 2, to vacate. This leaves the family not only concerned about Penny's health, but where they are going to stay with the children until Penny (hopefully) recovers. Penny will continue to go through aggressive treatment until August.

I am personally asking that every person that reads this donate a small something, but most importantly pass it on to your friends and family. Every person's small donations can make a huge impact if many people do it.

My friend means the world to me! Her welfare and the welfare of the children are priority. She has and continues to be one of the most giving people that I have ever met. Although today, she lies in a hospital bed, her thoughts are on the children and on an elderly woman that she assumed care of. She's kind and loving, and during our 15 year friendship, I have always known her to be a selfless giver.
