Gyandevi reach her goal of becoming a doctor

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Glenda, and I am fundraising for Gyandevi to help her reach her goal of becoming a doctor and supporting her local community in Nepal.

As many of you know, I have been trekking in Nepal with close ties to the Nepalese community for almost 20 years. It is a truly magical place of unimaginable beauty.
On my first trek, I was led by Pun (Gyandevi’s father), who told me with great pride about his daughters, the eldest of which had dreams of becoming a doctor to help her local community. There was a tinge of sadness however as while Pun and his wife believe strongly in the power of education, their means were little and the pathway long.
As a career educator, I wanted to help them on their pathway, so I offered to send a small (for anyone blessed to live in Australia) regular payment intended purely to assist with their education needs.
This affordable (similar to a World Vision donation) but meaningful contribution to their meagre finances allowed Pun to relocate from their rural village to a one-bedroom apartment in Kathmandu and enrol his three girls in a modest private school.
Each year, Pun sent their school reports, which were always exemplary and over the years I have returned to Nepal 4 times, each time spending time with his family, enjoying meals and witnessing the pride they have in his children and their educational success.
Incredibly, through hard work, determination and essential financial contributions, Gyandevi has successfully passed the entrance exam and has just finished studying the first year of her Bachelor of Medicine at the Universal College of Medical Science.
Now the challenge is helping this inspirational young woman to realise her dream as the costs of University exceed what myself and some of my close friends who have also contributed can afford.
If you can find it in your heart to help a delightful young lady achieve her dream, we would be very grateful.

The donations will be used directly to pay for university fees. We promise to keep contributors up to date on her progress.
