Healing Spaces

Healing Spaces is a club within De La Salle / Carondelet High School that does extreme makeovers to the living spaces of members of the community in need. Previous projects have been for children in hospice, battered women's shelters, a halfway house, and a nursery for children of families in crisis.
This year we are raising funds to create a healing space for Dylan Mandell, a senior at Campolindo High with a rare form of bone cancer, Rhabdomyosarcoma. We will be turning his living space into an oasis for healing while he receives treatment for a tumor in his jaw.
Dylan is involved in many activities around his community. He is a varsity athlete as well as an Eagle Scout in his Boy Scout troop. He is an active member in the youth group at Moraga Valley Presbyterian Church, and also works as a lifeguard. At the start of his senior year, doctors found a tumor on Dylan’s jaw and he was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. After undergoing surgery to remove the tumor, Dylan began radiation and chemotherapy treatments. Since then it has been a long battle, a tough way to spend his senior year. He embodies the spirit of the Eagle and we are confident that he will come out of this a stronger person.
Your support helps make his days brighter.

Healing Spaces was previously lead by Sharon Gerlach, a generous, kind, talented Interior Designer who passed away from an aggressive form of brain cancer in March of 2021. In her honor, her daughter, her best friend, and the students are continuing the legacy of Healing Spaces.
