Hope for Hope

If you know the Rowlands, you know they have been through more than their fair share of medical struggles. Over the last twelve years they have experienced five brain surgeries between two of their three boys, and their oldest son had lung cancer just 2 1/2 years ago. Through the years, their courage and resilience has helped them handle every obstacle with optimism and humor.

In early August, Hope received a breast cancer diagnosis of Invasive Lobular Carcinoma. There has been so much information to take in and process, and so many variables to consider. She has been seeing oncology specialists in the Twin Cities over the last month to form a plan. As of right now, Hope has her initial surgery scheduled for the end of September. Information is still being gathered which will determine if chemotherapy or radiation may be needed. She will be making many visits to the Twin Cities for appointments, which will be weekly to begin with.

While the mood in the house is optimistic, thoughts of upcoming missed work, fuel expenses, and other unforeseen costs are already making it difficult to focus on taking care of daily tasks and preparing for the surgery.
