My Dad, Anselmo

My name is Hector and I am fundraising for my parents.

My father, Anselmo, is 67 years old. He has spent the last four decades in San Francisco with my mother, Esperanza. They have worked tirelessly to make a life for their three children and grandchildren. Like many San Franciscans, my parents were displaced from their longtime rental unit in the Mission District and have struggled to make ends meet for their small studio apartment. The stress of staying afloat in one of the most expensive cities in the world has undoubtedly taken a toll on my parent's health.

On Nov. 8th, my father suffered a massive stroke and that was the last time he was able to communicate with me or anyone else. My Dad quickly deteriorated while in the ICU, he has been in a coma since then. We pray for a miracle and surround my dad with love, prayers, positive affirmations, and hope. While we advocate for him to get the highest quality of care and attempt to stay at his side around the clock we are aware of the enormity of the expenses we incur.

In addition to covering Dad's expenses in the hospital, we are certain that once he is stable, he will have a long and difficult road to recovery and will require a significant amount of care. He will no longer be able to work part-time to help support my mother, Esperanza, in paying the bills or covering the monthly rent. Instead, we will need to uplift him, support him with 24/7 care, and do our best to cover the expenses on his and our mother's behalf.

My mother and daughter, are both named Esperanza. Esperanza means hope. In our family, hope is what we have, it is what we believe in, and it is what keeps us going.
