Pray for Joseph's Spinal Cord Injury

Donation protected
Hi, My name is Rod. Within 6 days of the new year, my wife and I received an emergency phone call that our son, Joseph had been in a car accident. We lived over 1400 miles away in Durango, Co and our son lives in Huntsville, AL. My wife and I both worked at a hospital there as well as leading a church in Cortez, CO. We returned to Huntsville to the aid of our son and received the life-changing news that he was diagnosed as a quadriplegic.

After a few weeks, I had to return to work and my wife remained with our son to provide emotional, physical and spiritual support during his time in the hospital, rehabilitation center and currently at home. It has been a very difficult time for us as family starting with Joseph's accident, then having to leave our jobs, leave the church and uproot from Colorado to return to Huntsville to care for our son.

Although Joseph always pursued employment, he struggled with depression and keeping a job. Therefore, he didn’t have medical insurance at the time of the accident. He is currently receiving medical coverage through Medicaid. In the meantime, my wife has been caring for my son for a month, 24/7 with some assistance from our other son Daniel and caretakers provided with help from our church Restoration Church. In returning home, I was blessed with being able to gain employment with Huntsville Hospital where I had worked for 23 years prior to us moving to Colorado. Unfortunately, due to the level of care Joseph needs and many follow-up appointments, even with trips to UAB Spain Center in Birmingham, my wife has not been able to work. A typical day for her includes cooking, feeding, positioning, giving medications, cleaning, etc. Many of her days begin with exhaustion and lack of sleep. Our family needs additional funds for the loss of income and our bills and expenses we have with Delphine no longer employed and funds for Joseph's medical expenses not covered by Medicaid, like medical supplies and equipment, respite care, travel expenses, non-emergency transportation, home modifications for handicap accessibility, and mental, physical and occupational therapy. Joseph earnestly desires that he may be able to return to rehab and get more consistent therapy and access to technology that will aid and improve his recovery and healing. We also are believing for a handicap accessible van to be able to transport Joseph to appointments and that we may be to take him to place and events so that he can get out more.

We are humbly requesting financial assistance as we wait, pray and assist Joseph in his recovery and toward the medicines, rehab, physical therapy and equipment to aid with his healing. We are most grateful for the love and support extended during this personal crisis in our family. Thank you in advance and God bless you for your help during this most difficult time for our family.
