A New Dawn for Ahmed’s Family: From Gaza to Safety

Hello, my name is Ahmed Al Ashqar. I have a beautiful family, my wife Abeer, and my two children, Kinda (2 years old) and Sela (2 months old). They are my world.

A year ago, we were living together in a home filled with love. But the war changed everything. I discovered that I was unable to bear the costs of war and sought help for my family. Now, I reside in Gaza, completely devastated. I face many difficult days, but what worsens the situation is the constant war on Gaza and the perpetual worry for my wife and children. This has taken a toll on my physical and mental health.

Our beautiful home was severely damaged by the war. Now, my wife and children live in a tent without electricity, clean water, or good food. When I call my children and they tell me about their fears, I feel helpless. I wish I could do something to save my family from this genocide.

In the face of this harsh reality, I was forced to send my family to safety in the south of the Gaza Strip while I stayed behind. Now, I am separated from them and try to stay connected through constant phone calls. The separation is hard on all of us. My children miss their father and I miss them terribly. The sound of their voices over the phone is the only solace in my otherwise bleak days.

My youngest daughter, Sela, was born during the war and needs immediate medical attention. She is just two months old and the harsh conditions of our current situation are not suitable for a newborn. My other child, Kinda, is two years old. She is a lively and cheerful child but the war and the subsequent hardships have taken a toll on her. She needs a safe and secure environment to grow up.

My wife, Abeer, is a pillar of strength. Despite the adversities, she takes care of our children and tries to provide them with as much comfort as possible. But she too is affected by the ongoing situation. She is nursing and needs proper nutrition to be able to take care of our children.

As we prepare for a new beginning, our destination to escape the war is Egypt. But the cost is daunting. We need funds for travel, medical expenses, and to provide for our family in Egypt.
